This is the most unique decoupling system ever designed for a record player. The 13.5 inch Acetal Ring is mated to the main platter with special tension fit installation. This provides a mechanical decoupling from the driven rim to the record platter. The outer diameter of the drive ring is 13.5 inches x ½ inch thick; the record platter is 11.6 inches x 1.625 height. The base platter is 1.25 inches of MIC 6 Aluminum. The Ultra features a Delrin 1/8 decoupling layer, two 1/8 magnesium alloy decoupling layers and a carbon fibre record mat interface.
VTA Adjustable Tone Arm Set Up
The massive VTA Adjustable GEM Remote Arm Pod provides a plus or minus one inch travel from 5 to 7 inches in height. This unique feature provides the ability to minimize the height of the tone arm and greatly improve rigidity of the tone arm.
The arm pod is a three piece construction and weighs 20 plus lbs. The black lead alloy base is 5.625 diameter x 2.2 inches tall. The base has a precisely machined bore providing a sealed cylinder that accepts the 3.45 diameter arm post. The cylinder and piston fit is precise providing an air pocket that controls the movement.
The Moveable Arm Post
The arm post is polished aluminum piston that slides up and down in the base by hand with .100 graduation lines for precise adjustment.
The piston is supported by an air cushion that moves gradually and safely when unlocked, with precision
the piston is locked in position very rigidly by one simple allen screw.
OAK and Aluminum Plinth
Solid, non laminated Real OAK 1 5/8 inches thick available in Cherry, Black or Natural Oak are hand finished stained and lacquered. The main bearing housing is Mic 6 Aluminum sporting a huge 6 inch diameter bearing well. The plinth is supported by our famous TTSoundPoints designed for decoupling and isolation from the table, the big brass discs have o rings in the bottom for a non slip location of the turntable to motor.
Extreme Tolerance Carbide Bearing
Our unique dead silent and rigid ½ inch CARBIDE bearing shaft +/-.00005 housed in the massive oil impregnated “0”contact bearing sleeve. This is an industry first. TheCarbide shaft interacts with the Oilite and provides a no resistance interaction for the quietest possible bearing. Factory lubricated with no additional oiling required. Tungsten carbide thrust ball system.
The GEM is a rigid design DC Servo, optical encoder based direct rim drive turntable. The motor, arm pod, power supply and controller are separate decoupled devices.
