You really need to hear this Just came back to NJ from a week in PA. Turned on the Black Onyx/Talea/Shilabe combo. Think you should pay a visit next week!! Maybe Monday, Tuesday or Thursday???? You really need to hear this. Sent by Robin Wyatt from his mobile phone.

Ok listening again tonight, and now I think I have a handle on its sound. Layers and Details. Layers: It reveals so many more layers to the music. That is not excess detail and hyped top end air, but whole layers throughout the frequency range are exposed one upon another. Details: Are more easily revealed and placed far more solidly in their space than with any other table. The Talea arm adds the platform that allows the Shilabe to perform to its full potential. By far the best analog rig I have experienced.

Robin, I agree with you, layer upon layer of music. I too had trouble defining the sound, everything was just more real. My wife doesn't like my Audiophile expenditures, but she loves the music. The Black Onyx easily Bested my Teres 340, and makes mince meat out of my EMM Labs CDSA se. Sincerely CousinBilly William (Bill) Laleff Brampton, On. Canada

I had Jim Luce and his wife at my house last night. Jim is the importer of Fazzoli pianos in NA, as well as a musical impresario. Jim, his wife and my wife listened to Louis Armstrong on the Onyx and then I switched to the Garrard 501. All three said the Onyx was so much better, musically and sonically, they couldn't listen to the 501!!! Jim will be ordering one with me, when he sells his next piano.

Our First Customer Bill with his Black Onyx Silver Edition Serial Number 0001

Forget the fact that the shipping was UPS proof, with more bubble wrap than bubble boy has.

Forget the fact that upon unpacking even my wife was impressed with the velvet bag accoutrements (did I spell that right?).

Forget the fact that I was too lazy to read the instructions and simply assembled it using common sense.

First album was 'Eurythmics, touch', one of my wife's favourites.,,,,,,,,are you ready,,,,,,,. UNBELIEVABLE. My wife gave me that 'what the heck just happened', Annie Lennox was playing for us in our basement. Forget sound staging, highs, lows, PRAT, depth, etc.,,,,,,,. irrelevant. Annie was in our basement. Can you imagine what will happen when I actually take the time to adjust everything.

The JA Michell gyrodeck has been obliterated.
From my recollection of my Teres 340,....., no contest.

Bill
