VTA Glider Pod Technical

The VTA/SRA Capabilities

The VTA with be preset where Ortofon Cartridges are purchased.  You can now enjoy listening to the turntable and music while making magical adjustments to your tone arm system. Some fine tuning is always needed from testing bench to the final installation. The Glider Pod and TTW Graham Arm make the job fun, easy and expect top notch results with this integrated system  All tables are set up and tested with the Glider Pods installed and we very much enjoy this part of our jobs, MUSIC!

The POD has 3 Initial Height Positions

The Pod has three positions that have a ½ 20 UNEF Thread machined in the each of the tuning screw locations. One is hidden from view on the left behind the tuning screw

(Early Picture may be silver in colour also depending on availability of product, same quality)

Rough Setting of the POD

Generally the rough VTA adjustment provided in the TTW Graham Arm (See Specdial instruction and manual for TTW Graham Arm)will provide any rough adjustments required. If another tone arm is used and it does not have the adjustment capability then the Glider Pod Rough Setting may be adjusted. To adjust the initial position turn the tuning screws all the way in clockwise until it stops. Lock the two locking screws as follows:

Remove tuning screw, remove both ½ - 20 socket head cap screw in the other holes. Move the tuning screw to the new location. The movement must be down ward only. Please note that when moving the tuning screw upwards move from the lowest the next location. Lock the VTA silver screws with the T Handle, repeat to third location.

Unlock the Pod Piston

The VTA can be unlocked with two set screws on the side – use only the stainless (Silver in Colour) locking screws to lock and unlock with the T handle provided. Turn each of the two sets screw counter clock wise ½ turn to unlock the pod. Please exercise caution and do not adjust the center lock Allen screw it locked in place and damage will occur.

Turn the glider knob clockwise to move higher, .015 per 360 degree turn in height which equals .086 degrees. Only move the tuning screw the polished stainless large knob) when unlocked and you can leave it unlock while playing and true on the fly adjustment without a hitch. Listen and adjust it is truly simple and safe to use while playing your valued LP’s; you will find the perfect height.

Please take some time and read Grahams Engineering TT Weights Tone Arm Sheet and Manuals in the Factory Box from Graham Engineering for rough VTA setting of the arm height.

SRA/VTA Adjustment

The total adjustment in the Glider is .200 inches (5mm) which is equal to 1.145 degrees (10 inch arm) in Stylus rack angle (SRA) adjustment

One turn is equal to .086 Degrees in SRA, providing extreme control, never before realized in this type of SRA control. You can super tune the VTA while comfortably listening to the music until you find that sweet spot.

The pod is designed to move in the vertical position with .0015 piston clearance for the large 3.0 inches plus in diameter piston and cylinder. Aersoshell grease packing for cylinder wall damping and the base of the cylinder has 3/8 Aersoshell grease damping) to cylinder clearance but for absolute parallel position both screws MUST be tightened otherwise there will be a .010 angle error in the tone arm to base parallelism.

Tips on Using the Glider Pod

Move the handle at least one turn; this is only a small stylus movement although very precise. The angle of the style is preset to the best listening position and may be between 91.5 +/- .5 degree once set up at your home due to the levelling process.

The Glider Pod should provide the needed adjustments to provide the perfect position.

You may leave the T handle in place and lock and unlock one screw only near the end of the tuning session, leave the other silver Allen locking screw unlocked

The final position will not be dramatically affected when you complete the adjustments and lock the second screw

This is the best way to get to the final listening position. At the end lock both and listen, check the Azimuth at this point also

If you must adjust the 3 vertical height ½-20 location holes it is much easier to remove one of the plugs to allow air to enter. This is an airtight fit and this provides control of movement but also makes it tricky to overcome the vacuum when tuning the rough setting positions

The Digital Height control system withh 200x USB camera system is being developed now, stay tuned.
